216,000 extra Gerbera flowers by using AG-100
AG-100 super spreading agent was tested on gerbera flowers at the research center of a government affiliated agriculture university in Maharashtra, India. The result was 21 % more flowers obtained by three foliar sprays using 0.05% AG-100 mixed with micro nutrients during the 1st 60 days of the plant cycle. Not only did the number of flowers increase, stem lengths were longer and the flower diameter increased by an incredible 32%. This translates to 216,000 extra flowers with better quality per acre!
AG-100 (silicone adjuvant) works as super spreading, super wetting and super penetrating adjuvant and because of better micro nutrient absorption, the yield and quality increased. Elkay Chemicals team member, Dr. Bilson Shukla, attended the 6th Agrochemicals Conference 2016 on 19th July 2016 at FICCI, New Delhi. Role of crop protection chemicals was the theme based on the statement of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. He said that “My dream is to see farmers double their income by 2022, when the country completes 75 years of independence”.
India is fourth largest producer of agrochemicals worldwide. The Indian agrochemical industry is valued at $4.76 billion in 2015 and is estimated to grow at CAGR of 12% to reach $8.38 billion by 2019. Use of crop protection chemicals i.e. insecticides, fungicides, herbicides can increase crop productivity by 25-50% by mitigating crop loss due to pest attacks.
Elkay manufacturers agricultural adjuvants to increase the efficiency of crop protection chemicals and crop fertilization chemicals. An adjuvant is compound that is added to a pesticide formulation or tank mix applications to enhance its effectiveness. Adjuvants enhance the penetration of pesticides into plants by ensuring adequate spray coverage and keeping pesticides in contact with plant tissues, or by increasing rates of penetration. Elkay participated in the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Pune organized Farmers Day on 19 Oct 2015.
Over 100 key farmers from Maharashtra and other states of India attended the event.

Silicone adjuvants application benefits at AgriTech 2015 in Bangalore
Elkay participated in AgriTech 2015, India’s largest Agriculture Business exhibition in Bangalore held from 21 August-23 August 2015.
Elkay Silicones representatives talked with a huge number of visitors about the benefits of silicone adjuvants/surfactants in terms of super spreading, super wetting, penetration, and their excellent success in foliar spraying.
Silicone adjuvants can be used for yield enhancement of various agriculture and horticulture crops by mixing it with micronutrients & liquid fertilizers. AG100 silicone surfactant is used to enhance the activity & efficacy of pesticide sprays such as herbicides, insecticides and fungicides to control or eliminate unwanted pests on fruits, flowers, vegetables and other cash crops.
Adding silicone adjuvants to the solution of micronutrients and liquid fertilizers maximizes performance and enhances quality. Plants need NPK – nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. The best way to provide these nutrients is through foliar sprays.According to the scientists, a plant can transport minerals from its leaves all the way down to its roots in just 1 hour. Compared to root feeding, foliar spray is considered a more effective tool. As silicone adjuvants have high penetration abilities they enable the plant to absorb these nutrients in the most efficient manner.
Elkay demoed silicone defoamers for agricultural applications. LK- 675 is a modified silicone based highly potent anti-foam emulsion formulated specifically for agricultural applications. This product shows extremely fast foam destruction. It has excellent compatibility in other formulation components such as surfactant concentrates – it is especially suited for glyphosate formulations. The product is designed to retain efficacy in a wide range of pH and extreme conditions.

At Elkay, we are always working on new exciting products and applications. Upcoming for the first part of 2015 are great new additions to our agricultural adjuvant series and to our textiles portfolio.
AG-200 – we shall begin trialing our new pH stable agricultural adjuvant this month – unlike AG-100 that starts to degrade below a pH of 5.5, these will remain stable to a pH of 4. This will enable the incredible spreading of AG-100 in formulations that remain on the acidic side.
LK-Primasoft Light – an exciting new silicone softener emulsion that gives a unique touch and feel to any fabric. This is ideal for knits, polyester and denims. The main feature is excellent surface smoothness making fabric with a light and airy feel, giving the wearer wonderful comfort. This 55% solids also boasts of no fabric yellowing, easy dilutability and excellent durability. The product is ready to trial as of January 1st 2015.

Elkay provided live demos, awareness sessions and information leaflets about Elkay’s AG100 – A technical spreader and sticker product. Elkay’s stall was a huge success. We had more than 15,000 visitors who showed interest in our product which is a growing need in the agricultural industry.
AG100 is a silicone based adjuvant. This silicone super wetter provides more effective use of agro-chemicals. It enables larger coverage & lower spray volumes. Using Elkay’s AG products during fertilizer application has shown increased marigold flower yields by 40% (no surfactant) and 20% (NP surfactant).
