Advanced NICU Monitoring Boosts Newborn Care at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital
Advanced Monitoring Technology Introduced in NICU at Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune by RCP Kothrud and CSR initiative from Elkay Chemicals Pvt Ltd., Pune.
In a significant step towards advancing neonatal care, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital (DMH) has introduced the 7100 Regional Oximeter (NIRS), a cutting-edge system that offers real-time insights into oxygen delivery to vital organs in newborns, particularly premature and critically ill babies.
The introduction of this technology marks a shift from reactive to proactive care said Dr Kalane. Continuous monitoring allows doctors to tailor treatments, minimise unnecessary interventions, and respond swiftly to subtle physiological changes. This is especially critical newsborns, where even brief drops in oxygen supply can have lasting developmental consequences.
With this addition, the NICU reinforces its commitment to precision-based, evidence-driven care—offering vulnerable newborns a stronger chance at healthy development and long-term well-being.
Medical Director Dr Dhananjay Kelkar, Paediatrician Dr Rajan Joshi, Neonatologist Dr Shilpa Kalane and doctors and staff from DMH were present. Dr Ravi Kulkarni, Alka Kulkarni gave a brief about Elkay and its CSR Initiatives. Dr A Lokapur, Dr Madhuri Lokapur were present too.
